IBDP Japanese A2,  Standard Level Grade Descriptors

 

Grade 7 Excellent performance

Demonstrates an appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows very good critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a very fluent, accurate, varied and appropriate manner. Shows very good understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 6 Very good performance

Generally demonstrates an appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows good critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a mostly fluent, accurate, varied and appropriate manner. Shows good understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 5 Good performance

Demonstrates an appreciation of some the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a generally fluent, accurate, varied and appropriate manner. Shows adequate understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 4 Satisfactory performance

Demonstrates a limited appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows limited critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a manner that is not very fluent, accurate, varied or appropriate. Shows limited understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 3 Mediocre performance

Demonstrates very limited appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows very limited critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a manner that is not fluent, accurate, varied or appropriate. Shows very limited understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 2 Poor performance

Demonstrates almost no appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows almost no critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a manner that is not at all fluent, accurate, varied or appropriate. Shows almost no understanding of the subject matter.

 

Grade 1 Very poor performance

Demonstrates no appreciation of the varieties and subtleties of the language. Shows no critical thinking and originality. Uses language in a manner that is not at all fluent, accurate, varied or appropriate. Shows no understanding of the subject matter.
