Setting Precise Tabs


Tabs are used to align text in columns, create tables, and position important text at set points on a page.

To set a tab to a precise area on the page:

1Under FORMAT select Tabs.

2In the Tabs window select one of the five Alignment options:

left tab - text aligns left

right tab - text aligns right

center tab - text aligns to center

decimal tab - aligns numbers on the decimal point

3In the Tab stop position box type in the exact location of the tab.

4Click OK.

5Position the cursor in front of the text to be tabbed. Press tab on the keyboard as needed to align the text.

TIP: To remove the marker from the horizontal ruler: Click, hold and drag the tab marker off of the ruler. The tab will be deleted.
