RESTAURANTS
Japan is a country of millions of restaurants! You’ll be surprised how local and small they can be. Explore the area immediately surrounding your local supermarket, train station and along the closest ‘major’ road. Don’t be afraid to note the name and phone number and make some inquiries. Japanese food really is delicious!
To help you get started, here is a brief list of some recommended restaurants:
Indian. Banjara Restaurants. Located in Toyonaka, and about a 20 minute drive from school. This restaurant is small, so make a reservation on 06-6855-3214.
Also located in Umeda. Reservations can be made on 06-4802-0326.
Korean BBQ. On the 2nd floor of the Life Science building in Senri Chuo. Good for set lunches.
Onohara Nishi. Near the Onohara intersection, behind the police koban.
Chinese. Near Volks on Route 171. Up the external stairs to the second floor.
Chain Restaurants.
Volks. On Route 171 near school.
Tomato and Onion. On Route 171, past Route 1 towards Kyoto.
Kobeya Bakery. On Route 7 beside the Senri River. (Diagonally opposite Dr. Sono’s).
Tomato Raman Shop. On Route 43 towards Mino, close to Route 171.
Jolly Pasta. On Route 171.
On Route 7. Between Route 171 and the Chugoku Expressway, this section of road is known locally as ‘Romantic Road’. There are numerous restaurants along here. Please try some.
The Senri Hankyu Hotel in Senri Chuo has some fine restaurants, but for the best value for money, try the lunchtime buffet on the weekend in the Chagall Restaurant.
Coffee Shops.
Hiro. At Senri Chuo, on Romantic Road and in Mino. Other locations as well.
Starbucks. The closest stores are located at Mycall Shopping Centre in Ibaraki, near Esaka Station on the Midosuji Line, and at Itami Airport.
Seattle Coffee. The closest store is located at Mycall Shopping Centre in Ibaraki.
Mister Donuts. Located at the Onohara intersection on Route 171, at Kita Senri and Senri Chuo. This is a large chain of stores.
**Please note, as mentioned before, smaller restaurants do have a habit of closing down overnight. Please check before embarking on an outing.
HOME DELIVERY
Fast food outlets that deliver to your home will more than likely drop a brochure in your mailbox at some stage. Most common deliveries are by pizza/pasta chains, and sushi chain stores. If in doubt, don’t be afraid to ask your neighbours or others at the school for some information. Please use the information given under ‘Taxis’ to help you to order.
