EARTHQUAKE INFORMATION

Now that you are living in Japan, you have to be prepared in case there is a major earthquake. A scary thought we know, but very real. Information will be issued from your local city office once you register. Otherwise, the Welcome Furoshiki pack has some valuable information on this topic.

AMBULANCE AND FIRE

DIAL 119

Perhaps another daunting thought, but please refer to the back pocket for an invaluable information sheet on how to call an ambulance or a fire truck. Keep the information sheet beside your phone.

POLICE

DIAL 110

For emergencies involving crimes, dial the police on 110. This will put you through to a central operator.

Police are also located throughout the entire city at local police boxes. These are called kobans. Find out where your local koban is, and report any matters directly to them. You will need some Japanese speaking skills, or an interpreter.

If you are involved in a car accident, DO NOT MOVE YOUR CAR! Contact the nearest koban and your insurance company immediately.
