Mr Jeffery's Messages

Monday 6th Feb

The students know what I want them to do. I want them to think of the website as an electronic magazine with articles, reports, advertising, letters to the editor, an advice column, crossword puzzle or wordsearch game, classified section, obituary page, etc.

So, they can take scenes from the play (ex. the riot between the Capulets and Montagues in act I, scene i) and write a news report based on it.

They have ads offering “buy 2 swords, get one free” and they can import graphics to use in the add.

They can have an editorial/commentary page that argues the moral and social concerns with arranged marriages, and girls getting married at such a young age.

They can write obituaries to Tybalt, Mercutio, and RJ.

A wedding announcement page, etc.

They are allowed to be totally creative (even modernizing the scenes if they wish) and can embellish stories, make up some aspects of the articles (as long as they stay within the plot/themes, etc. of the play.
