An Introduction
to Shakespeare
For my class,
please use Romeo and Juliet as your
reference and for examples. Your Home
page should include: Why Study
Shakespeare? Other pages might include
these issues:
-
What was the
stage like? How was this used in the
play? [Research and Interpretation]
-
Shakespeare's
language: why is it so hard? How is
it poetic (more like poetry than
conversations). You can use the
prologue as an example. [Language]
-
Interpreting
the play. If you were designing for
a modern style production, how would
you design the costumes? (Choose two
or three characters as examples.)
[Interpretation]
-
Summary of
Shakespeare's life and times.
[Research]
-
Support
material. Useful sites (annotated,
i.e. include comments, a paragraph
or so for each site; 100 words,
approximately.) and bibliography.
[Research]
-
Feel free to
include anything else that would
help to make Shakespeare
understandable to students like
yourselves.
Please note
RESEARCH is not finding, cutting and
pasting. That is PLAGIARISM. (However,
given the time limits, you will need to
cut and past illustrations.) RESEARCH is
finding information and applying it to
your needs in ways that recognize the
original source but interpret it in ways
that show you have processed, or thought
about the information.
