Insert a Header


Headers are text blocks that display at the top of word processing pages.

Running Header: a message that appears on every page.

1Under View select Header and Footer.

2Enter text for the Running Head in the Header Section.

TIP: Use Header and Footer Toolbar buttons or Auto Text to insert information in the Header Section.

3Click Close.

Odd or Even Page Header: a message that appears only on even or odd pages.

1Under View, select Header and Footer.

2Click the Page Setup icon in the Header and Footer Toolbar:

3Click on the Layout Tab.


4Select Different odd and even.

5Select Odd Page from the Section start drop down menu. Select Even Page if the header is desired on the even page instead.

6Click OK.

The Odd or Even Page header message will appear on every odd page of the document

First Page Header: a header that appears only on the first page and not the rest of the document.

1Under View, select Header and Footer.  

2Click Page Setup on the Header and Footer Toolbar.

3Click on the Layout Tab.

 

4Select Different first page.

 

5Click OK.

6Enter text into the First Page Header section.
