International Fair for the new school year 2005
Many OIS parents have expressed their wish to see the
International Fair take place next year. SIS have also expressed
a wish for OIS to be involved.
One way to approach the fair is to form an OIS International
Fair Committee, who can begin planning before the end of our
school year. If there are any parents who would be interested in
forming an International Fair Committee, or being a classroom
booth leader please let Ms. Aotani, OIS Secretary (email:
caotani@senri.ed.jp
/phone: 072-727-5080) know by the end of next week.
Parking outside and near the school
We would like to ask all parents to cooperate by not parking in
the street where the red cones are placed.
The PTA Annual General Meeting next week will not be held. We
will look at forming a PTA in the new school year.

SABER SPORTS UPDATE
Simon Parker
Athletic Director
As we approach the final stretch of the school year things are
still very busy on the athletics front, with a number of big
tournaments coming up for our spring activities as well as
preparation starting for the Fall season high school sports.
This last weekend saw the Boys MS Volleyball team take on KIU
Academy from Kyoto. In a very tight game the A team were beaten
2 sets to 1, while the B team won by 3 sets to 0. The team are
doing an excellent job so far - this is the first time for many
of these students to play volleyball and if they continue
through into high school we can look forward to a very strong
team in a few years time. Also in the last couple of weeks we
have had good success in MS Girls Softball, HS Boys Baseball and
most impressively in HS Girls Softball where our team beat
Marist in a thrilling game over in Suma. This was actually the
first time we had beaten a very strong Marist team for a number
of years and I know that Ms. Hirai was delighted with the result
and the performance of the team. Well done to all who
participated !

IBDP EXAMS OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START
Peter Heimer
IB Coordinator
OIS students are now busy taking IB exams. Some of these exams
were taken during Golden Week. I’d like to recognize the
sacrifices parents and students have made in giving up part of
their holiday.
Most of the test-takers are seniors who have studied six IB
subjects and, after passing their exams, will receive the
coveted IB diploma. For many of these students, acceptance into
university and receipt of academic credit are dependent on their
final IB scores. The pressure is significant and the students
have handled it superbly.
Several grade 11 students have also taken exams, thus completing
their one-year “anticipated” IB courses in history and
mathematics.
IB exams continue until May 24. Good luck to all students!
